Let the Trail Running Commence

We always seem to look forward to trail running. I think it provides enough variety in our routine that makes it seem new every time. Or, perhaps it is because we get to see sights like these.

Even though P and I always think it is a good idea at the time, about half way up we change our minds. However, we keep going. Yesterday we climbed these stairs twice.

We are always very proud of ourselves, as tough as it is, and enjoy the journey back down.

We continued the evening with a bike ride on the multi-purpose trail. The weather cooperated and these are the evenings and events that summer seems to be made for. -A

Summer Garden

Aside from bike riding, running, and other activities that are high on my list of great things to do, we spend much of our time in our yard. Here is a sampling of some of our flowers, herbs, and vegetables. We had a bit of a late start with the garden itself but everything seems to be growing quite nicely. Even my marigold seeds took off fast. The lavender has more than tripled in the past few years and I love to make pretty sachets for family and friends come fall. I can't wait to eat the cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers, etc soon enough. Enjoy. - P

At the Track

So P and I decided that a little speed work in our running and riding and yoga program was necessary if we want to ever post faster times in the races we do. Tonight was the official first time I was going to go to the track since basketball conditioning in high school. Since the local high school track is only about a mile and a half away I decided to ride my bike there. When I get there I see this sign.

I had actually mentally prepared myself all day for a track workout. I am surprised with myself that my first reaction wasn't "ok, so I'll just run around the neighborhood". It was actually, "where is the next closest track and can I ride there"? It turns out that the neighboring city's high school track was only about 5 miles away, and thankfully, along the bike lane.

So, I finally arrived at a track! A good workout, sprint intervals for only a mile since I had an unexpectedly long ride. A 3 mile round trip turned into an 11 mile round trip.

Happy Birthday Blog

A picture from where it all began. Thanks, Big Boy! We can't believe a year has already gone by. Starting this blog has been a lot of fun for both of us. Documenting "notable" pictures, events, or things that peak our interest has been our main goal. Our direction may not always seem defined or specific, but we do find it fun to post items that strike us as something that may be nice to share. There are times the blog inspires us to capture a moment in our lives that may have gone by unnoticed. We look forward to another year!

Basil Pink Lemonade Sun Tea

I love fresh-sweet-tangy-refreshing summertime drinks. I took the basil I grow in my living room and topped off the sun-tea pink lemonade mixture. I also added a little honey. I snuck a glass this evening after I chilled it for a little while. I am excited to share it with my parent's at the picnic we are having tomorrow for my dad's birthday.

Baseball Is In The Air

Saturday was an all out gardening day here. We were rather exhausted that evening but instead of staying home to relax and watch the ladies French Open Final (that I recorded), we decided to head out to the baseball game. The weather was perfect and we hadn't been to a game in quite a few years (at least 5), it seemed like a great idea. Although our hometown team lost, we had a relaxing evening watching the game, eating hotdogs, and watching Star Wars themed fireworks. -P

What's Better Than Ice-Cream and Bikes?

Absolutely nothing. Riding 20 miles seems to be the perfect mileage for a nice relaxing bike ride after work. What is even better, pairing it with ice-cream and friends. I am still having fun with the Instagram App so this time I used the 1977 filter. They look just like the photos in my parents 1970's photo albums. I took these photos with A about a week ago during our ride to a local marina. - P

Pool Time

Well it may not be technically summer, but it is officially summer. The pool is open! It is such a great place to cool off after a morning run or ride. It is also quite useful for feet dangling while reading.
